Pro straight pool tourney highlights great strategy and shot making.
trans9x9.gif (820 bytes)D&D Family billiards in Downingtown held a real straight pool tournament the 29th-30th of August. The field   featured 16 terrific players including the return of Kevin Milbourne, who has not played a tournament since 1989. Most of Sunday catered to a standing room only crowd.

The Tim Scruggs Power 9 Ball tour has it's 1st event of the season on 10/11.  They play a 48 person field and fill up quickly.  To get more information on how to play events on this tour contact Coby Atkins at Diamond Billiards 717-569-5144.

-What is the Tim Scruggs Power 9 ball Tour?

The Tim Scruggs Power 9-ball tour hosts the best players in our area. The events are open and run an average of 42 players per event.   There is a points race that is used to determine the "Player of the Year" rankings.  All events are $500 added and in the events 33% of the field is paid.   A portion of the player fees will go into the added for the Tour Championship.   This years added is expected to be more than $2,800.  Only players qualified to participate, will be invited to play in the Championship Tournament.  To be qualified, you must play in at least three events!!!  No one with less than three events players in will be allowed to participate.  Those shooters who win a Tour Stop are automatically eligible to play.  This Final Championship will be a scheduled two day event, races to nine, double elimination and the winner will become this year's entry fee recipient for the entry fee into the 1999 U.S. Open, in Chesapeake, VA.  This field will also be limited in size (80 or 96).

Allen Hopkins Super Billiards Expo '99
trans9x9.gif (820 bytes) Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, Pa will once again be the site of the 7th annual Super Billiards Expo, produced by Allen Hopkins and sponsored by Viking Cues.  The event is March 19th, 20th and 21st. Schedule of events will include
WPBA Players Championship - Top women pros compete for over $50,000
Open Amateur Championship - Four hundred and forty players compete for the $5,000 guaranteed first prize.  Format is 9-ball races to 5, 2 out of 3 sets single elimination and played on 7" tables.  Entry fee is $75.  The field usually fills by the end of February. Play begins at 11:00am, on Friday, March 19th.
Women's Amateur Players Championship - This event is full
Junior Players Championship - This event is full
North American Wheelchair Event - 24 players compete for the title

Announcing the 1999 Lonestar National Pool Championship.
trans9x9.gif (820 bytes)The Lonestar National Pool Championship tournament director, Ron Alford, has contracted with the Isle of Capri Casino to have a Pool Tournament at their facility in Lake Charles, La. The tournament will take place April 15-18.

This tournament is strictly an amateur event. The tournament is opened to
anyone associated witha sanctioned league (BCA, APA, Valley, etc.). If you are not
sure if your league is considered sanctioned please contact Ron Alford to
determine your league's status. The sanction requirement is made to ensure that only amateurs compete in the events. Smaller/lesserknown leagues than the ones mentioned above are encouraged to attend.

The format of the tournament is 5-man team eight-ball on over size 7'ft tables; the maxinum number of teams allowed will be 256. There will also be a singles eight-ball tournament; limited to 64 players.

The entry fee for the team play is $200.00 per team. The entry fee for the singles events will be $75.00 per person. All entry fees need to be sent in by March 20. After March 20 the entry fees will increase by $25.00.

If 256 teams (maximum allowed in this tournament) attend there will be over
$50,000 in cash and prizes.

Saturday Mar 13th and Saturday May 8th D&D Family Billiards is hosting 9 ball Qualifiers (18 and under division)for the BCA National 9 Ball Championships in Tulsa Olk.July 22-24th at Magoo`s Billiards. Boy's and Girls divisions
$25.00 entry fee included table time
Double elimination winners race to 9, losers race to 7, finals one race to 9.  Open at 12 noon starts at 1pm sharp.
One winner takes all prize money to cover their expenses to Oklahoma
The BCA awards scholarship money and prizes for competitors. Tell me more.
